Enchanted Doll Artists Conference

This year I attended the Enchanted Doll Artists Conference for the first time. It was a good experience. I was honored to win the advanced amateur blue ribbon for my doll Archimedes. Archimedes was formerly known as Athena's Muse. When I submitted him to EDAC the new name just fell into place and it felt right - so I went with it.

The first two days I learned about how to write patterns with elinor peace bailey. I worked on writing a pattern for some of my doll maker's awards and medals. It was great fun and I learned a lot. I hope to publish my first pattern shortly.

Looking at myself in the photo with elinor I look seriously under dressed for the occasion! I must work on my wardrobe! Obviously I need to dress more vividly... get some hats...cover up the grey. Could I pull off my day job of professor with a primary hair color?

The last day I took a class with Peggy Wilson on how to make clothing fit a particular doll. Peggy is a good teacher and she knows her stuff about tayloring. I put together a doll for this class out of spare body parts. It felt pretty random until I designed the garments. This is a picture of the dapper Sir Edac modeling the clothing made in Peggy's class. He is a work in progress.

Hey Emily! I really like how Sir EDAC turned out. I didn't realize he was spare parts. My brain was so overloaded by the last day I must have tuned a ton of stuff out. It was so nice to meet you!
